New PvPDuelStats Prog and Dupe Hack - TheGuard @ TODAY
Hello there. TheGaurd here again. I'm sorry for the downtime on the website, most if not ALL the links are down.We will try to get the site back up as soon as possible. Thx for your patience. As a treat, we give to you a new progam that our good friend Froggy, was kind enough to share with us. It's called the PvPDuelStats. It's a simple and small program that allows you to see who and when you killed someone. It also logs the number of kills you've dealt, and the number of deaths you've received. It's a great Prog and we'll know you'll enjoy it. Not to mention this nifty new module!! I know many of you've been waiting and we finnaly have it here, thx to our friend skulz!! It's pretty simple to use, and comes with a readme file. Well, Thx again!! You can get it here at https://d2realms.tripod.com/PvPDuelStats.exe and https://d2realms.tripod.com/DupeHx.exe
To download, right-click and save target as. :D

Yet more info on 1.10!! - TheGuard @ 5/14/03
Some more news on Battle.net with a new animation of the Barbarian from the candidate release of the new patch. It's actually a new Whirlwind and if I'm not mistaken, there is the mention of a "Spirit" on the top left of the screen as an icon... I've never played as a Barbarian before but I'm thinking that's never been there before... If you have any suggestions or see in detail where this "spirit" is (I have my own idea but I hate publishing something on the site and then getting 30 emails of "You're way off!!!" ... So I'll confirm with you guys first =), please feel free to send me an email at the address above.

Tune in later for more!

Diablo II Version 1.10 ... soon to come! - TheGuard @ 5/13/03
Yes, I know... I'm a bit slow =) But this did hit me by surprise. In any case, the release of Diablo II version 1.10 is very soon and to our great enjoyment, there is a NEW QUEST!

The new quest is available on HELL difficulty and must be triggered by realm characters only. For a "clue", check out this screenshot. Here's what Battle.net has to say:

  • The Diablo II 1.10 patch is currently running through our QA testing procedure. Although we don't have a release date set, we are working hard to get the patch out as soon as possible.

Seasonal Ladder Characters - A new ladder system will let players compete on a seasonal basis. At the beginning of each season, the ladder-based world of Diablo II will be "reborn" and players will be able to create new characters to start their climbs again on equal footing. For the duration of the ladder season - which has yet to be determined - these ladder characters will exist in a new economy, separate from the other non-ladder Battle.net Realm Diablo II characters. When a ladder season ends, all ladder characters from that season will join the pool of non-ladder Battle.net Realm Diablo II characters.

More Challenging Gameplay - Diablo II players who adventure in the Nightmare and Hell difficulty levels will experience a world in which the monsters have become more powerful and substantially harder to defeat. Players may need to develop new tactics or enlist aid from others in order to face these strengthened minions. The monster improvements include enhanced AI, more skills, greater damage, and higher resistances.

A New World - Players can expect to encounter more randomly distributed unique monsters in every locale and even a few guest monsters where players wouldn't normally expect them. In addition, characters above level 70 will require increasingly more playtime in order to gain levels.

Enhanced Skills - The skills of each player-character class have been thoroughly revised. On top of that, a new system of "synergies" has been added to each character's skill set. Allotting a point to certain skills will result in synergy bonuses to one or more of that character's corresponding skills. After the patch is released, visit The Arreat Summit for more details.
    Item Improvements

Enhanced Class-Specific Sets - The class-specific sets in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction have been significantly improved - some with abilities never before seen in the game.
New Unique Items - Around 100 new unique items have been added to the world (many being elite uniques), some of which can be found only in either single-player, TCP/IP, and Open games or in 1.10 Ladder games.
New Unique Item Properties - Some of the all-new unique item properties introduce entirely new twists to the world of Diablo II. Imagine a Barbarian who can shape-shift into a Werewolf.
New Rune Words and Horadric Cube Recipes - The patch will introduce new Rune Words and new Horadric Cube recipes. Some Horadric Cube recipes will work only in either single-player, TCP/IP, and Open games or in 1.10 Ladder games.
Improved Treasure Drops - The quality of items dropped by regular monsters has been greatly increased.
Improved Quest Rewards - The first time a player defeats an Act-ending boss monster, the creature will yield significantly better treasure than in subsequent encounters. Some of the other quest rewards have been improved as well.
Better Gambling Odds - The average quality of items won via gambling has been improved.

As you can see, there's a lot of new things that have been added to spice up Diablo II. Blizzard always ends by saying: "Although we do not have a release date set for this patch, we are working hard to get it out as soon as possible." Let's hope that day comes soon because I honestly believe that a few changes could revive interest in the game to many many gamers =)

If any visitors are going on vacation soon, I wish you a great time. I'll be as present as I can throughout the summer when this patch is released.

Sincerely,

TheGuardian.

Diablo II Status Update - TheGuard @ 1/21/03
I was not aware that a character will remain on the realms only if it is activated for 2 or more hours in a specific period of time. Here's more:

    Diablo II Status Update

    Friday, January 17, 2003

The Diablo II character policy has always been that characters need to be "burned in" by being played at least 2 hours in the first 48 hours, or be subject to expiration. Earlier in the week, as part of normal realm upkeep, we expired all such characters. It quickly became evident that large numbers of individuals had not been playing their characters for the required 2 hours in order to prevent them from expiring. Due to the volume of complaints about expired characters, we have decided to do a one-time restore. We will not repeat this, and will make sure that the warning about character expiration rules is burned into your brains. We apologize for the confusion that this seems to have caused.

On an unrelated note, there are problems with some characters that users will see as "Player not found" or "my character was rolled back XX days". We have been working on fixing this as quickly as possible. The realm restore was NOT intended to address this issue, it was solely for the reason listed above. We expect a full fix for the missing/old character problem to come shortly.

Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve these problems.

    The Battle.net Team

ON A MORE PERSONAL note, I would like to apologize for my overwhelming absence on the site. I wish you all a Happy New Year 2003!!

Realm Status - Mord @ 12/05/02
The Battle.net website has just been updated with information concerning new realm server software:

Certain hack programs cause the Diablo II server software to crash periodically.

New Diablo II realm server software is being distributed to all realms. The new software prevents the use of several hack programs and generally improves the server software. Overall, this will improve the Diablo II realm stability dramatically.

The distribution of this software will be completed shortly. Thank you for your patience.

Patch News - Mord @ 11/24/02
Hi, everybody! I know my last post dates back to March, and for that I would like to apologize. I've been really busy with non-internet obligations. Maybe I'm going to upload some new graphics for the site next week. We'll see. But don't expect anything spectacular. The layout and color scheme won't change. Enough said, there's news to focus on. So let's get right to it.
Blizzard has just released a new issue of Blizzard Insider. It contains information on a limited edition Diablo II print by Keith Parkinson and also some details about the upcoming patch:

I've heard that there's a new patch for Diablo II in the works. What will it change about the game, and when will it be coming out?

We are working hard on a major patch for Diablo II that will change many aspects of the game. We are still ironing out what we can and cannot actually make happen - there are many changes - so speaking on specifics is not yet possible. Generally, however, we are adding new cheat-detection code, changing skills and how they interact with each other, adding new items, making some older items better, and even teaching some old monsters new tricks. We have focused these changes on the upper end of the game; however, in order to avoid disrupting the flow and balance of the early play, we don't expect to see any major impact until the Nightmare and Hell levels. This patch has been a long time in the making, and we are very excited to bring the Diablo community many of the things that they've been asking for.

Be sure to check out the entire Blizzard Insider right here.
